The Brit, who is best known for his work on the original Star Wars trilogy, passed away in 2013 at the age of 98.

He was remembered on Saturday (12Dec15) with the installation of a blue plaque outside the house where he was born in Leytonstone, east London in 1914.

The plaques are unveiled at sites of historical significance around the U.K., and a group dressed as Star Wars characters turned out to pay tribute to Freeborn at the ceremony.

As well as working on Star Wars characters including Yoda and Chewbacca, Freeborn also looked after the make-up effects for the original Superman films, The Omen, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
