Two Cuban actors who went missing at a Florida airport en route to a New York film screening are seeking political asylum in the U.S.
Javier Nunez Florian and Anailin de la Rua were no-shows when a connecting flight to the Big Apple from Miami took off earlier this month (Apr12), and after a week of hiding, the two Latino stars have emerged and announced plans to stay in America.
Ironically, the two 20 year olds portray teenagers seeking new lives in Florida in the film Una Noche (One Night), which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Appearing on Spanish-language channel America TeVe on Friday night (27Apr12), the pair confirmed its plans. An immigration lawyer in Miami has confirmed he is working on behalf of the actors.
Nunez is now an award-winner - he was named Best Actor at the Tribeca Film Festival.
'Wilson', starring both Dern and Harrelson, is released in U.S. cinemas on March 24th.
