Hit musical Miss Saigon has set a new box office record by selling a huge $6.6 million (£4.4 million) worth of tickets in one day.
The theatre show is returning for a run in London's West End next year (14) and fans snapped up seats when they went on sale on Monday (09Sep13).
By the end of the day, $6.6 million of tickets had been sold, dwarfing the previous record of $3.2 million (£2.1 million) set by The Book of Mormon for its London run earlier this year (13).
Miss Saigon producer Cameron MACkintosh says, "I'm not just surprised, I'm completely amazed. I had a feeling a lot of people would want to see it because I've probably had more letters in this country saying when are you going to bring Miss Saigon back than any of my other shows. But there is so much interest from everywhere - I'm flummoxed."
The musical begins its new London run in May (14).
