TELEVISION guitarist RICHARD LLOYD is quitting the reformed punk group to concentrate on his solo career. In an announcement earlier today (10May07), Lloyd has confirmed he will leave the band following the final performance on their current tour at New York's Central Park on 16 June (07). In a statement, he says, "I love all four of the guys... but I can't ride two horses. "I took a vow in '73 to be invisible so that (frontman) Tom (Verlaine) could be the leader, so there'd be no challenge in public, and I've held to that. But the new record I have is too good to give a half-assed effort." No details have been released about the future of the reunited quartet following Lloyd's departure.
