LEONARDO DiCaprio bookended a perfect day on Thursday (16Jan14) when he picked up the first trophy at the 19th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards, just hours after landing an Oscar nomination.
The Best Actor in a Comedy Movie prize for his portrayal of a drug-taking, womanising broker in The Wolf of Wall Street came just hours after DiCaprio learned he was up for a Best Actor Oscar.
Accepting his latest accolade just four days after he claimed the same honour at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (12Jan14), the actor said, "This is fantastic."
He then congratulated his co-star and "friend" Jonah Hill, who picked up a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination on Thursday morning, and apologised to his parents for "everything I did in this movie".
Another 2014 Oscar nominee, Amy Adams, was also an early winner - she was named Best Actress in a Comedy Movie for her role in American Hustle.
She took to the stage at the Santa Monica, California event and embraced her Enchanted co-star James Marsden, who presented the award to her.
She joked, "Any chance to kiss James Marsden, I'm excited."
Adams then apologised to her fiance Darren LeGallo, adding, "Sorry Darren, you know it's true!"
In her acceptance speech, she cooed over her beau, stating, "Darren, there's no such thing as individual success... and I am successful because of you. I love you so, so much. You are the best. You are my rock."
Her film, which is up for 13 Critics' Choice Awards, was then named Best Comedy.
