Singer/songwriter Joe Ely Has Been Appointed Official Texas State Musician For 2016.
The country star picked up his latest accolade on 7 May (15) in Austin for his commitments to the arts in his home state, according to RollingStone.com.
A statement from the guitarist reads, "I'm humbled to be recognized in this manner by the state of my birth.
"As a songwriter, I've always felt extremely fortunate to have grown up in such an inspirational place with its rich, compelling history. (Texas) is filled with some of the most fascinating characters in the world."
