Jenna Dewan-Tatum has jumped to the defence of Kim Kardashian.

The 32-year-old 'American Horror Story' actress - who is set to give birth to her first child with her 'Magic Mike' star husband Channing Tatum in London this summer - tweeted a special message in support of pregnant women just days after supermodel Helena Christensen lashed out people for criticising Kim's weight gain and maternity style.

Writing on her Twitter page on Monday (01.04.13), Jenna urged her followers to be more compassionate to women like Kim, saying: ''Let's all be kind to every woman out there who is expecting.

''It shouldn't be about how much weight someone has gained, their fashion etc . . . it's a beautiful amazing moment in time and not about vanity.''

Jenna's supportive tweet for reality TV star Kim, 32, follows on open letter written by Danish beauty Helena, 44, who lashed out at critics for describing the 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star as ''huge'', ''fat'' and comparing her to Shamu the whale.

She wrote: ''It is disgusting and despicable the way that certain media constantly harass the pregnant Kim Kardashian. It's enough that they persistently project a negative focus on women's physical shapes; but a public bullying and attacking of a pregnant woman because of her growing shape is just lower than low.''

Kim, who is expecting her first child in early July with her rapper boyfriend Kanye West, recently insisted she has no problem with her growing shape and just wants to have a healthy baby.

She also hit back at critics for suggesting she was endangering her unborn baby by wearing clothes that are too tight.

She said: ''It's funny because Kourtney warned me that when I get pregnant people's opinions will be on an all time high and everyone will chime in! So I now see what she means.''
