TV bosses in Japan have pulled a planned broadcast of the final season of 24 due to a sensitive storyline involving radiation poisoning.
The 9.0-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck the Asian country last month (Mar11) damaged a nuclear centre in Fukushima, causing radiation to seep into the water supply.
In response to the crisis, TV Tokyo executives have decided not to air the eighth series of 24, in which the son of a Russian terrorist falls ill after he is exposed to nuclear rods.
The fifth season of the series, which stars Kiefer Sutherland, will be shown instead.
A spokesperson for TV Tokyo tells the Hollywood Reporter, "With the many victims of the current disaster in Japan, and ongoing concerns about radiation leaks from the nuclear power station, TV Tokyo has decided not to show the planned final season and show season five instead."
American Thighs was released on this day in 1994.
