Retired boxing great Jake Lamotta has been given a new lease of life after undergoing surgery to have a pacemaker fitted last week (ends08Aug14).
The 92-year-old legendary fighter, who was portrayed onscreen by Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese's classic movie Raging Bull, had the operation at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida and the surgery has been deemed a success.
His wife, Denise Baker, tells the New York Post, "Hopefully he'll live for another 10 to 12 years. God bless them and him!"
The film is almost half an hour longer than 'The Force Awakens'.
The film is expected to continue without Mendes' involvement.
