A Broadway theatre boss is giving New York's stray dogs the chance to become famous and live out their days in luxury, by signing them up for parts in a new musical.

More than 20 animal shelter dogs got their shot at the big time on Saturday (22JAN05) when they 'auditioned' for a part in the upcoming CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG show.

Two dogs were picked to take part in the production, which opens at the Hilton Theater in April (05).

As well as starring in the show, the two mutts have been adopted by animal handler BILL BERLONI, who will take care of them at his farm when the production ends.
