Irish folk singer RONNIE DREW has died. He was 73.
The musician died at St. Vincent's Private Hospital in Dublin on Saturday (16Aug08).
Drew, the founder of The Dubliners, had been battling ill health for some time, according to his family.
He underwent six months' treatment for throat cancer two years ago.
A family spokesman says, "The family are very grateful for all the letters of support and wishes during the term of Ronnie's illness."
His wife of more than 40 years, Deirdre, died last year (07). He is survived by his two children and five grandchildren.
