Television news organizations, which have been compressing their video equipment down to a size that a reporter can tug around (thereby eliminating camera crews), likely viewed Apple's announcement of a new iPhone with excitement on Monday. Apple chief Steve Jobs noted that, out of the box, the phone is capable of recording 720P high-definition video images, editing them, and sending them directly to recipients in minutes. Reviewing the device, an instructor at the University of British Columbia, wrote, "A device that you carry all the time loaded with a mobile multimedia editing suite is a powerful combination for a journalist, let alone people caught up in news events."
