Even with its lowest ratings since 2002, American Idol still beat all of its competition in total viewers Wednesday night -- handily. The talent show attracted 13.15 million viewers, fewer than half the viewers that it regularly drew just a few years ago. Still, its competition had little to complain about. ABC's Modern Family tied Idol among the 18-49 set in the 9:00 p.m. half hour, the first time that it had done so. And, with 9.4 million viewers, CBS's Survivor: Caramoan remained a force to be reckoned with despite also experiencing a ratings downturn. Even struggling NBC got some good news Wednesday night. Its Chicago Fire drew more 18-49-year-old viewers at 10:00 p.m. than any other program in that hour. But with 6.5 million total viewers, it was beaten by CBS's CSI: Crime Scene Investigation with 9.3 million.
