ICE-T survived gang culture by avoiding drugs and leaving his rough neighbourhood as soon as he could. The COP KILLER star, once a member of ultra-violent Los Angeles street gang the Crips, escaped and forged a successful rap career before he succumbed to the evils of gang life. He says, "Rule one is move out of the neighbourhood as soon as you can. Trouble happens when you're stuck in a particular area where gangs operate; separate from that and you're okay. "In terms of surviving when there's some heat, I didn't do drugs and didn't drink so I always had a clear head. It was the messed-up guys on dope that took losses and hits."
