The family of paedophile rocker Ian Watkins has broken its silence after he was sentenced to 35 years in jail for a string of sickening sex offences, including the attempted rape of a baby.
The former Lostprophets frontman was handed the lengthy custodial sentence at Cardiff Crown Court in Wales on Wednesday (18Dec13) for abusing the children of two female fans, with the judge, Mr Justice Royce, explaining that the case was so shocking it "broke new ground".
Watkins' stepfather John Davies, married to the musician's mother Elaine, has now described his own family's anguish throughout the police investigation and subsequent trial.
He tells Britain's Daily Mail, "I could cheerfully spend an hour knocking him around a cell. There are things I may well want to say to him. These offences are so horrific. They are the most heinous crimes. Every one of us is completely and utterly devastated.
"We chose not to come to court. It is far too distressing for Elaine and for me. My heart aches for her. Ian had a very strong relationship with his mother. It is a very deep bond. My heart aches for any individual who has been drawn into this and been affected by it. And only time will tell who those victims are."
Davies also reveals that as a teenager, Watkins, whose lawyer told the court he became addicted to drugs in 2009 and has no memory of the sex assaults, was vehemently against drink and drugs and was later corrupted by fame.
He adds, "He was emphatic as he was growing up through his teenage years that he would never drink, never do drugs. That's what he told us. Whether that was to reassure us as parents, I don't know. But obviously something went wrong in later years. I think it coincided with being in the American scene.
"He started giving interviews and there were concerns that perhaps he was just trying to shock, or create an impression or trying to push boundaries to reinvent himself and the band."
He'll also be on board as a producer for the book to screen adaptation.
Gendry has been living under Cersei Lannister's nose for quite some time now.
The director would love to take the films in a different direction.
