Oscar nominee TERRENCE HOWARD spent six weeks living with a pimp to get into the mindset of playing a hustler in hit film HUSTLE + FLOW, and developed a new respect for sex handlers. The actor, nominated as a Best Actor, was so shaken by the experience it completely changed the way he portrayed his character D JAY in the gritty movie. Howard explains, "He had a family - they were a family unit. He told me, `How would you feel if you had to send your sister out to go and perform some horrible act in order for you to be able to eat?' "It changed how I was going to play and deal with the other women in the film. "They (pimps) all have a soul; they've been disenfranchised, they've been set aside by life."
