Hollywood screenwriter Doris Kanter has died aged 95.

Kanter passed away on 18 March (14) in Encino, California following a brief illness.

She was married to Emmy-winning comedy writer/director Hal Kanter for 70 years before his death in 2011.

Her Tv credits include Chico And The Man, Night Court and Beau Bridges' 1980 sitcom United States.

Kanter also designed the colourful opening title credits for groundbreaking series Julia, the show her husband helped write which starred Diahann Carroll.

She is survived by her three daughters and a granddaughter.
