LATEST: British TV presenter RICHARD HAMMOND has suffered a "significant brain injury" after crashing a dragster jet car at nearly 300 miles (483 kilometres) per hour on Wednesday (20SEP06). Doctors looking after the star at Leeds General Infirmary in England are "reasonably optimistic" that Hammond will make a decent recovery. The 36-year-old was attempting to break the British land speed record for BBC car show TOP GEAR when the accident happened at a former Royal Air Force airfield near York.
