Grammy-winning jazz musician Charles Flores has died at the age of 41.
He lost his battle with throat cancer in Hartford, Connecticut on Wednesday (22Aug12).
The bassist, who was born in Cuba, developed a love for music in high school and joined Emiliano Salvador's band, Afro-Cuba, in his early 20s.
He subsequently worked with the Isaac Delgado Group, appearing on three studio albums, before he was recruited by the Michel Camilo Trio, which took home the Best Latin Jazz Album Grammy Award in 2004.
Devastated by his longtime collaborator's passing, Camilo told local publication the Hartford Courant, "(Flores was) a wonderful human being loved by all of us, and also by many fans worldwide who enjoyed his amazing talent and unforgettable smile. (He was) truly gifted with a unique musical sensibility as well as a profound knowledge of the Latin rhythms and the jazz tradition."
'Wilson', starring both Dern and Harrelson, is released in U.S. cinemas on March 24th.
