Former Playboy playmate Swetlana Maslowskaya has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after she was convicted for tax fraud in her native Germany.

The retired model, 32, was found guilty of failing to declare expensive gifts worth $2.5 million (£1.56 million) to authorities and she broke down in tears on Wednesday (12Mar14) after she was handed the sentence in a Frankfurt court.

After hearing the news, Maslowskaya said, "I am really sorry for what I did. I will never accept any gifts ever again."

The beauty had been lavished with cars, jewellery, exotic holidays and cash from her 90-year-old lover, married German brewery heir Bruno Schubert, who died in 2010.

She had also been given an apartment in Salzburg, Austria, which she later sold at a profit without paying property tax.

Her total tax debt amounted to $1.39 million (£868,875).

Maslowskaya isn't the only German celebrity punished for tax evasion this week - soccer boss Uli Hoeness was sentenced to three-and-a-half years behind bars on Thursday (13Mar14).
