Richard Madden has landed the role of Prince Charming in 'Cinderella'.
The 'Game of Thrones' actor has signed on for the lead-role in Disney's live action adaptation of the classic fairytale, directed by actor and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh.
Madden will star alongside 'Downton Abbey' beauty Lily James, who is set to play the titular role after battling off competition from a long list of potential actresses for the part.
'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' actress Cate Blanchett will play the wicked stepmother in the feature, who bullies Cinderella and treats her as a slave.
This will be one of the biggest roles yet for Scottish-born Madden, who has previously starred opposite Aaron Taylor-Johnson in 'Chatroom' and fellow Brit-heartthrob Eddie Redmayne in the TV adaptation of Sebastian Faulks' 'Birdsong'.
'Cinderella', written by Aline Brosh McKenna, is scheduled to begin production later this year for a 2014 release date.
The Disney movie follows several other successful fairy-tale films re-created to be in real-life, such as Johnny Depp-led 'Alice in Wonderland' and this year's 'Oz the Great and Powerful', which tells the story of what happened before 'The Wizard of Oz'.
