French actor SAMY NACERI has been sentenced to six months in prison and fined 8,000 euros ($10,500/GBP5,400) after pleading guilty to racially abusing a police officer.
The TAXI star was pulled over by police on the outskirts of Paris, France in March (06), after being spotted driving erratically, and he aimed racial insults at a black policeman.
He later admitted that he was driving under the influence of medication and alcohol.
The 44-year-old, who was jointly awarded the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, has previous convictions for drink-driving, drug possession and assault.
Naceri is due back in court in Paris next week (begs18DEC06) to face separate charges of assaulting a man in a restaurant.
The actor plays the Queen frontman in the forthcoming movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody'.
The novel's author saw a cut of the film and loved each of the changes the movie's director had made.
The filmmaker departed the project over differing 'visions'.
