Rapper Freddie Gibbs has been released on bail in Austria.
The Indiana-based hip-hop star, real name Frederick Tipton, was taken into custody by French police following accusations he sexually assaulted a woman in Austria last year (15).
In June (16), a judge granted a request for bail submitted by Gibbs' lawyers and ruled he could be released on a 50,000 euros ($56,400) bond, before handing the matter over to Austrian authorities after agreeing to extradition requests.
The 34-year-old initially appealed the extradition, but withdrew the legal request earlier this month (Aug16), and on Tuesday (16Aug16) he was charged with sexual abuse by Austrian officials.
On Thursday (18Aug16), Gibbs was freed on a 50,000 euros ($56,630) bond and had to surrender his passport, according to Reuters.com.
Gibbs has previously denied the allegations against him.
