The family of Argentinian folk singer MERCEDES SOSA has called on her fans to pray for the star as she fights for her life after suffering heart and breathing problems.
The 74 year old is in a critical condition in the Trinidad Clinic in Palermo following her hospitalisation on 20 September (09).
Sosa has been put on a respirator after experiencing further health issues with her liver and kidney, and her son Matus has asked devotees to say a prayer for the singer.
He says, "I think it's a moment for prayer, for those of us who are believers. And for those who aren't, I ask you to show some strength, because positive thinking exists.
"I'm absolutely sure that mum is doing everything possible to come out of this. She has lived fully her 74 years. She's done everything she wanted, and never had any barrier or fear. She has lived a very full life, and a painful one."
Doctors treating Sosa admitted her condition "has progressively worsened, due to heart failure and breathing problems".
Last month (Sep09) Sosa, who has released more than 70 albums throughout her career, landed three Latin Grammy nominations for her latest CD Cantora 1. The awards show takes place in Las Vegas on 5 November (09).
