Although it faced only token opposition from mostly reruns on the other networks, Fox's American Idol was unable to boost its flagging ratings on Wednesday. In fact, they were down a tad from last week. The two-hour performance episode averaged just 12.7 million viewers. Nevertheless that number was good enough to give the show -- and Fox -- a solid win for the night. With the February sweeps behind them, the networks made little attempt to snag viewers. The only new program -- other than Idol -- to air Wednesday night was CBS's Survivor: Caramoan, which attracted 9.4 million viewers. CBS's other programs also performed respectably in repeats, but ABC and NBC struggled. At 10:00 p.m. CBS's CSI, drew as many viewers as NBC's Chicago Fire and ABC's Nashville combined.
