Rockers the EAGLES are back on top of the US tour charts after being named the top-grossing act of 2005 so far.

The HOTEL CALIFORNIA stars have pulled in $76.7 million (GBP40.3 million), based on numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore for the six months ending 17 May (05).

But U2's VERTIGO tour is expected to pass the Eagles dates as 2005's biggest rock show, when end-of-year figures are released.

The Vertigo tour was just getting started during the half-year time period, but experts claim its heading for a $300 million (GBP157.9 million) year.
