Troubled Bollywood star SANJAY DUTT has quit the film production company he formed with director pal SANJAY GUPTA.
Dutt, who is currently awaiting sentencing on a terrorism conviction, and Gupta have produced a string of films together through their firm White Feather, including Kaante, Musafir and Zinda.
But the actor's legal troubles are taking a toll and Gupta says he received a resignation letter from Dutt over the weekend (14-15Jul07).
He says, "The letter arrived in the afternoon on Saturday. I rang up Sanju (Dutt) immediately to ask him what it was all about; he explained that he had to take this drastic step in the light of his court cases. For legal reasons, he cannot be shown to be part of a corporate company like White Feather. I totally understand that.
"Sanju's decision to quit White Feather has no bearing on our personal relationship. He is and will be my friend. Even our professional rapport remains the same. We're currently shooting Alibaug together. There's no change in that."
Dutt was found guilty of illegal possession of arms in relation to the 1993 serial bombings in Mumbai.
