Hip-hop legend DR. DRE has unveiled his latest work of art - a high-tech line of headphones with a price tag of $399.95 (GBP200). The Still D.R.E. rapper/producer has teamed up with Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine and Monster Cable Products to launch the new piece of technology, called Beats By Dr. Dre, which went on display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Sunday (06Jan08). The headphones feature a new driver technology, which allows users to hear music the way Dr. Dre would in a professional studio. He says, "When I'm making a track, I'm trying to capture the sound that makes me go 'now THAT's the s**t!' "And I want that reaction from everybody who hears it. I spend a lot of time in the studio listening to my music through headphones... with Beats, people are finally going to hear it the way they should: the way I do." Beats By Dr. Dre will go on sale in the U.S. in the spring (08).
Many ticket-holders couldn't get into the O2 Arena show on Tuesday night (September 19th) because they didn't bring photo ID to match their booking.
An album re-release, a new song and a documentary mark the singer's legacy this year.
The film will be the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe led by a person of colour.
The actor plays the titular hero in the forthcoming adaptation.
