The adoption process of a dog with a human face is dragging on, with pooch lovers seemingly put off by the poodle shih-tzu cross named Tonik, who became an internet sensation this week. Young Tonik was due to be put down before he was saved and taken to a rescue centre in Mishawaka, Indiana.
The two-year-old dog's face bears a striking resemblance to that of a human - sort of a sad looking old man, on his last legs. Workers at the centre describe him as a "very sweet boy who is trying to figure things out and enjoy people," which sort of makes him sound like an introverted post-graduate student. Anyway, the guys down at the rescue centre are looking for a donation of $250 for Tonik, who has been given a clean bill of health (apart from having a human's face) and is micro-chipped. We're not sure about this. Sure, the dog looks loveable, though could you really wake up in the morning to be greeted by a dog with a human's face? Just staring back at you with the same blank expression? Maybe you could.

The adoption advertisement notes that although Tonik is not dangerous, he is unsuitable for families with young children and needs "patience," and good energy. Which makes us feel a little more uncomfortable about the whole thing.
