The latest Doctor Who Tv episode has become a box office hit on the big screen after it was screened in cinemas across the world.

The 75-minute The Day of The Doctor special aired simultaneously in America, Australia, the U.K. and other countries on Saturday (23Nov13) and fans then flocked to theatres to see the whole thing again hours later.

The big screen version ran for three days at cinemas across the globe - and even challenged The Hunger Games sequel at the box office in some theatres.

The big screen Doctor Who garnered $10.2 million (Gbp6.8 million) globally.

It was screened in cinemas in America, the U.K., Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Iceland.
