While some analysts have expressed concern about the growing churn rate at satellite operators DISH and DirecTV as customers opt for cable-TV packages that also include high-speed Internet and telephone services, DirecTV indicated on Thursday that it can still lose some subscribers and increase profits. Indeed, it said, it lost 103,000 subscribers in the last quarter alone, yet by increasing its rates slightly to an average of $105.15 per month from $101.38, it was able also to increase domestic revenue 5 percent in the quarter to $6.3 billion. It remained the nation's biggest home-satellite service with 20 million subscribers. Moreover, it said it added 3.8 million new subscribers, mostly in Latin America, where revenue soared 22 percent to $1.67 billion.
