South African hip-hop and punk icon Leon Botha has died just a day after celebrating his 26th birthday.
He suffered from aging disease progeria and reports suggest complications from the condition brought about his death on Sunday (05Jun11).
Botha was part of acclaimed underground act Die Antwoord, who scored a big hit last year (10) with Enter the Ninja.
He was also an aspiring artist, staging his first solo exhibition in Cape Town in 2010.
A message on his website reads, "Goodbye Leon, you and your art will be missed."
