Renowned opera composer Robert Ashley has died at the age of 83.
The experimental musician passed away last Monday (03Mar14), less than a year after he was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver.
He was known for incorporating electronic music into his operas in a bid to modernise the genre and worked on productions including Tv opera Perfect Lives, Balseros, Your Money My Life Goodbye, and Crash, which will receive its world premiere at the Whitney Biennial in his hometown of New York next month (Apr14).
Many ticket-holders couldn't get into the O2 Arena show on Tuesday night (September 19th) because they didn't bring photo ID to match their booking.
An album re-release, a new song and a documentary mark the singer's legacy this year.
The actor plays the titular hero in the forthcoming adaptation.
