Former American football star Chad Johnson has been sentenced to 30 days behind bars.
The troubled sportsman-turned-reality Tv star was sentenced to probation and handed a restraining order last year (12) following a physical altercation with his then-wife, Evelyn Lozada, who filed for divorce days after the incident.
The former Miami Dolphins player reportedly violated the terms of his probation last month (May13) when he was arrested in Florida, and on Monday (10Jun13), Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen MCHugh handed him a custodial sentence.
The 35 year old must also complete 25 hours of community service and enroll in additional therapy sessions. His probation was extended until 21 December (13).
After his sentencing, Johnson took to his Twitter.com page to tell fans the news writing, "Love me through the good and the bad because I'm gone love you regardless... See you in 30."
The '12 Years A Slave' director will receive the accolade at the London Film Festival in October.
