Folk stars CAROLINA CHOCOLATE DROPS have changed their line-up less than a week before they compete for a Grammy Award at the 2011 ceremony.
Founding member Justin Robinson has quit the band and will be replaced by beat boxer Adam Matta and multi-instrumentalist Hubby Jenkins, according to the Associated Press.
No reason has been given for the change.
Robinson explains, "The Carolina Chocolate Drops have been playing together and touring the world for more than five years.
"During those years, we have experienced great successes, heartbreaks, trials and triumphs. It is, however, time for me to take a separate road and though it is bittersweet, it is the best choice."
The band's fourth album, Genuine Negro Jig, has been nominated for best traditional folk album at the Grammys in Los Angeles on Sunday (13Feb11).
