Singer Carol Williams has paid tribute to her labelmate Loleatta Holloway, calling her "one of the greatest voices in the world".
The disco star passed away on Monday (21Mar11) following a brief illness.
Her death has shocked pal Williams, who was also on the SalSoul Records label.
Williams says, "(I) put her right up at the top as one of the greatest voices in the world. When she recorded in the studio, she would have to stand so far back from the mic. Most singers, you know, go right up to the mic and almost have their lips on it. Loleatta could stand feet away."
Williams isn't the only star mourning Holloway - Boy George took to his Twitter page and wrote, "God rest your soul Loleatta Holloway, you were the greatest voice and I loved you! R.I.P".
