Broadway play The Velocity of Autumn is to close on Sunday (04May14), less than two weeks after opening at the Booth Theatre.
The news comes just hours after actress Estelle Parsons picked up a Tony Awards nomination for her portrayal of an elderly artist in Eric Coble's comedy/drama.
The play opened to mixed reviews on 21 April (14) and failed to attract theatregoers, grossing only $135,000 (Gbp84,375) in its first week.
The film will be the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe led by a person of colour.
The actor plays the titular hero in the forthcoming adaptation.
Rock legend Eric Clapton has admitted the era of the guitar may be ''over''.
Following his success with 'The Force Awakens', the director will close out the trilogy.
