His partner and producer reveals Carrington died "peacefully" following a long battle with cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

Carrington hosted The Music Goes Round for 35 years.

He also enjoyed a career onstage as an actor before he became a member of the BBC Drama Repertory Company in 1946, when he started producing shows for Radio Luxembourg and the BBC, and he portrayed Doctor Anderson in British soap opera Emergency Ward 10 in the 1960s.

He retired as a broadcaster in October (16).
