Beloved Brazilian singer EMILINHA BORBA has died of a heart attack. She was 82.
Rio de Janeiro Mayor CESAR MAIA has declared three days of official mourning, following Borba's death on Monday (03OCT05).
The country's PRESIDENT LUIZ INACIO LULA DA SILVA says, "The death of Emilinha Borba saddens all of us. One of the country's dearest singers, Emilinha touched over a generation of Brazilians with her songs.
"The voice of Emilinha Borba will always remain in our memory."
Borba launched her career in 1939 on the radio, and went on to be recognised as the queen of the South American nation's golden age of radio. From her debut until 1964, Borba recorded over 200 songs.
The actor says he isn't "holding out for more money or doing anything like that".
The drama will be making its return to the streaming service in the near future.
