Bluegrass star CLARENCE `TATER' TATE has died at his home in Jonesborough, Tennessee. He was 76. A former fiddler and bassist in Bill Monroe's band, the Blue Grass Boys, Tate fought a long battle against lung cancer. As well as performing with Monroe, the musician recorded with Lester Flatt, Jimmy Martin, Carl Story and MAC Wiseman, among others. He also taught fiddle at East Tennessee State University. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (20Oct07).
He'll also be on board as a producer for the book to screen adaptation.
