R&B star Mary J. Blige is taking acting lessons in an effort to ensure she's worthy of future film roles.
The singer made her big screen acting debut in I Can Do Bad All By Myself and she's currently shooting musical Rock of Ages.
Blige will also play jazz and blues legend Nina Simone in a new biopic - and she's determined to master her new craft.
She says, "I'm trying to do everything - I have a dialect coach, acting coach, piano coach... everything. I'm just doing what I'm doing. The film thing is going to start happening more often because I'm trying to nail it, not just get an acting job because I'm a singer.
"I have a coach for every little thing I do. I want Queen Latifah to be proud of me... (and actress) Angela Bassett of course. I want to earn my acting kudos."
