R&B star Mary J. Blige wrote most of The Help's theme tune during an early screening of the new movie.
Film bosses invited the singer to create a song for the big screen adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's bestselling novel about black maids in Mississippi, and asked her to attend a preview showing.
Blige was so enthralled by the story she worked out her track The Living Proof before leaving the theatre.
She tells Postmedia News, "I saw the movie. I cried so hard and I laughed so hard. There was all sorts of stuff I was going through, and then I got encouraged and inspired by the end of the movie. And while I was sitting watching the film, each emotion that I had, I would type down on my BlackBerry.
"Then I requested to see it again, and the same thing happened again. I just kept typing down more, and, by the time I got to the studio, the song was almost written."
Blige recently revealed she felt a personal connection to the film as her aunt worked as a maid for a wealthy white family when the singer was a child.
