MARY J. BLIGE is facing legal action from two songwriters who have accused the R&B superstar of basing her 2005 song TAKE ME AS I AM on a track they released a decade earlier.
Jay Ballard and Kim Jones have filed suit against the No More Drama hitmaker and production team The Clutch, claiming Blige's release, from her album The Breakthrough, is a direct rip-off of their 1995 tune of the same name.
According to the legal papers, filed in the U.S. District Court in California last week (08Jul10), the songwriting duo is seeking compensation and wants the copyright infringement case to go to jury trial.
Singer/songwriter Keri Hilson is a member of The Clutch and has also been named as a defendant, reports AllHipHop.com.
