Singer/songwriter Colin Vearncombe's Wife Camilla Has Thanked The Medics Who Tried To Save Her Late Husband's Life After A Now-fatal Car Accident.
The musician, who recorded under the name Black, died on Tuesday (26Jan16) after suffering head injuries in the 10 January (16) crash near Cork Airport in Ireland.
Staff at Cork University Hospital battled to save the Wonderful Life singer's life, but the swelling on his brain eventually cost him his life.
His wife and their three sons have now spoken out to pay tribute to the carers who made Vearncombe's final days as peaceful as possible.
"Colin received the best possible care from the expert and highly professional staff there and we are deeply grateful for everything they did," they said in a statement, which ends with a line from the star's biggest hit, "No need to laugh or cry. It's a wonderful, wonderful life."
The singer died weeks before he was set to become a first-time grandfather on St. Patrick's Day (17Mar16).
A private family funeral is currently being planned, while a memorial service in Vearncombe's native Liverpool, England will be confirmed in the next few days.
The Rolling Stones star has thanked fans for their support following the news.
