Popular British series Black Mirror is set to be adapted for U.S. television.

The acclaimed sci-fi anthology series is getting an American spin-off from producers at media company Endemol Shine North America, which is also responsible for bringing shows such as American Idol, MasterChef and Gracepoint to the U.S. from Britain.

Black Mirror was recently released on internet streaming service Netflix, creating a strong buzz and interest among American audiences.

Creator Charlie Brooker has previously stated he would serve as the executive producer for the U.S. version of the series.

In 2013, Robert Downey Jr. and his production company Team Downey acquired the rights to a Black Mirror episode with hopes to adapt it for the big screen.
