Cosmetics tycoon Leonard Lauder called off his wedding to his longtime partner just weeks before they were set to exchange vows.
The 80 year old, who heads the global brand set up by his mother Estee Lauder, was due to walk down the aisle with 55-year-old Linda E. Johnson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania last weekend (17-18Aug13), but decided to scrap the union at the last minute.
He is still in a relationship with Johnson, who is president of the Brooklyn Public Library in New York City, and the pair has even jetted off on a 'honeymoon' in Sardinia, Italy despite not going through with the nuptials.
A source tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "They have been telling people the wedding is postponed, but as of now, a new date has not been set.
"Some people assumed that Leonard and Linda had not reached an agreement on a pre-nup (pre-nuptial contract) in time for the wedding, but in fact the pre-nup had already been signed a while ago."
The wedding plans came just two years after the death of Lauder's beloved wife Evelyn, who passed away in November, 2011 after a battle with cancer. The face of the company, Elizabeth Hurley, turned the Empire State Building pink last year (12) in honour of Estee Lauder's breast cancer awareness drive, which had been set up by Evelyn.
