Former Miss Nevada beauty queen KATIE REES has escaped a charge of resisting arrest by agreeing to pay fines for five traffic violations.
The 23-year-old was arrested last month (Feb08) after allegedly kicking a police officer while he attempted to take her into custody after he pulled her over for speeding in Las Vegas.
Rees, who reportedly chipped a tooth in the altercation, was booked on charges of driving with no proof of insurance, driving with suspended license plates, speeding and resisting a police officer.
But on Wednesday (09Apr08), prosecutors agreed to drop the resisting arrest charge in return for Rees pleading no contest to the traffic offences and agreeing to pay fines totalling $1,312 (GBP656).
Speaking outside the Las Vegas hearing, Rees said, "I'm just really glad this is over. It was a really traumatic experience and I'm ready to move on."
The 2006 Miss Nevada was stripped of her crown in December 2006 after inappropriate photos of the beauty queen appeared online.
