The critically-panned superhero films have landed on the shortlist for Worst Picture alongside Assassin's Creed, Collateral Beauty, Dirty Grandpa, The Divergent Series: Allegiant, Fifty Shades of Black, Gods of Egypt, and Independence Day: Resurgence.

The worst sequel prize will be a competition between critical flops Alice Through the Looking Glass, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Blair Witch, The Divergent Series: Allegiant, Independence Day: Resurgence, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, among others, while Mother's Day and Office Christmas Party's Jennifer Aniston, Allied and Assassin's Creed's Marion Cotillard, and Megan Fox (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows) will 'compete' for the Worst Actress dishonour with Radha Mitchell (The Darkness), Margot Robbie (The Legend of Tarzan and Suicide Squad), and Julia Roberts (Mother's Day).
The full list of nominees for the spoof awards, which celebrate the worst Hollywood films and performances, will be announced on 23 January (17), a day before the Academy Awards nominations.
