Sci-fi author A.C. Crispin has lost her battle with cancer at the age of 63.
The writer, born Ann Carol Crispin, passed away on Friday (06Sep13), according to an announcement posted on her publisher's website.
She began her literary career in the 1980s and had more than 20 novels to her name, including Storms of Destiny and Sylvester.
Crispin also became known for writing books based on movies and Tv series like Star Wars, Star Trek and Pirates of the Caribbean.
She also helped to run online watchdog Writer Beware, which alerts authors to book scams.
