The Star Trek: The Next Generation star passed away in Los Angeles on Friday (04Dec15) following a decade-long battle with the disease.

Montgomery began her career as an actress in TV shows and movies, including Kojak, L.A. Law and Aloha Paradise, but she moved behind the camera and worked in the development departments of independent film companies. Her producing credits include Row Your Boat, Til There Was You and Diary of a Hitman.

She also worked as an assistant to screenwriter Waldo Salt, director Hal Ashby and producer Bruce Gilbert on 1978's Coming Home.
